In my quest to find the best concealed carry platform for me, I have actively avoided the Glock for not being "typical" for lack of better words...and I think this is where the hatred for the Glock really comes from. In my experience, they are very reliable, are fairly easy to shoot, extremely easy to work with, and offer the best size:capacity ratio on the market, with Smith & Wesson giving them a run for their money with the M&P line. .
The aftermarket is plentiful, the holsters are plentiful, the support is plentiful...everything is plentiful for a Glock; More abundant Toyota Corolla parts.
When I finally decided to cave and try the Glock, I took that I shot the moment I got out.. 19x. Who in their right mind would want a compact slide on a full size frame out of compensators (which I don't have)? So I found one... then I shot it... then I understood.
Fast forward to now and I have again chosen to get the Glock G45 MOS model over the Glock 19x; It's optic ready, doesn't have a cord loop, they removed the stupid front lip present on the 19x, and removed a few other things like the nDLC slide finish instead of the nPVD found on the 19x.

Looking at the G45 you wouldn't think it would feel significantly different from the 19x, but in the short time I've had it I can tell you it really is. The lip that is removed from the front of the handle actually makes it more roomy and more comfortable. The front slide lock is also a great add-on as I have to run optics on it. It still (optionally) retains the same night vision that the 19x came with from the factory.
There are only two things around that I want to do with this Glock. The first was to add a Tau Development Group SCD (striker control device) for safe reholstering, Kägwerks raised/lengthened the slide (so my thumbs don't ride the current), and obviously an optic. I may change the mag release but that is still to be decided.
Well... dribble aside, I like the G45 so far, and the G17 length holster definitely solved the problem I had with the 19x which you can read about here.
